Baseball is back, and once again millions of people turn their attention to Chicago’s favorite ballpark: Wrigley Field. (Sorry Sox fans, it is.) Scores of Chicagoans move to Wrigleyville just so they can be within shouting distance of the friendly confines, even if they don’t have season tickets. Some people aren’t even that loyal to their families.
For hard-core baseball lovers, or those who just dig the Wrigleyville vibe and want to be in the center of it all, The Residences at Addison and Clark is getting closer to welcoming its first denizens. Move-ins are expected to start before the playoffs.
The Residences is a joint effort of M&R Development and Bucksbaum Retail Properties. The building was designed by SCB.
When complete, there will be 148 new homes from studios to two-bedroom flats. They come with the usual punch list of amenities you’d expect from a high-end building in a high-profile location in Chicago, plus a few extras. The units have Ecobee3 thermostats, which means you can change the temperature from your Apple Watch while you’re cycling up the lakefront trail. That’s kind of a good deal because normally they cost two bills. That is, if you can find one. They’re sold out on Ecobee’s web site, and Amazon is almost depleted. And when you get home, there’s a wall designed for hanging heavy things. Like your bike.
There are a lot of buildings that claim to be in Wrigleyville the way real estate agents have magically added 200 new blocks to “West Loop.” But if you live at The Residences, when someone questions your Wrigley cred you can tell them the nearest location for you to buy peanuts is from a guy in a blue shirt and short pants in Section 534 named Lou.
If being ballpark-proximate is not on your list of priorities, there’s still reason to like this building. Specifically a ten screen movie theater, a Lucky Strike, and a Shake Shack. Because every now and then you just need to get your Shack Stack on.
If you don’t have any friends in Wrigleyville, that’s OK. M&R sent over some renderings of what the interior of the building will look like so you don’t have to buddy up to the guy at work who squeaks his chair a billion times a day just so you can see inside.
M&R Development Reveals Interior and Amenity Renderings of The Residences at Addison & Clark

CHICAGO (March 29, 2018) — Itasca-based M&R Development today revealed interior and amenity renderings for The Residences at Addison & Clark, a mixed-use development at the southeast corner of Addison and Clark streets in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. Located across the street from Wrigley Field, the transit-oriented development will include 148 luxury apartments and 150,000 square feet of retail. Addison & Clark is a joint venture of M&R Development and Bucksbaum Retail Properties LLC. The apartments will be managed by Chicago-based RMK Management Corporation with pre-leasing beginning in June and first move-ins expected in August.
The Residences at Addison & Clark will offer a mix of studio/convertible, one- and two-bedroom floor plans with one or two baths. Residences will feature engineered hardwood floors in living areas; high-end kitchens with quartz countertops, Leedo textured European-style cabinets and stainless steel Whirlpool appliances; full-size, in-unit laundry; and walk-in closets. A customizable slat wall system in each residence can be personalized to hang anything from planters, bags and coats to bikes and even a small foldable table. Floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies on select units will showcase sweeping views of the neighborhood and downtown skyline. Each unit will include an Ecobee3 Smart WiFi thermostat.
“We have already seen a great deal of interest in The Residences at Addison & Clark with several hundred requests for information,” said Anthony Rossi, Sr., president of M&R Development. “Aside from the ultra-prime location, the sophisticated design touches throughout the residences and the common areas will definitely be a strong selling point for potential residents. Not to mention the fact that the views from select units – including panoramic skyline vistas to the south and east – are stunning.”
In keeping with M&R Development’s tradition of building amenity-rich communities, The Residences at Addison & Clark will boast over 14,000 square feet of amenity spaces on the fifth floor. A 5,715-square-foot indoor clubhouse will include a hospitality room with a kitchenette, large-screen television and ample seating as well as a separate lounge for residents to socialize and entertain guests. A well-appointed fitness center and yoga studio will open to an outdoor amenity deck while a sauna and steam room provide additional space to relax and unwind.
Residents can enjoy outdoor building amenities like a pool and spa, private seating areas with multiple rooftop gathering areas and a variety of seating options. A fire pit and grilling stations will also be available for residents and guests. And for pet owners, a dog run on the fifth floor is attached to a vestibule so residents can watch their pets from the comfort of an indoor space.
“The amenities at The Residences at Addison & Clark are right in step with the vibrant neighborhood below,” said Diana Pittro, executive vice president at RMK Management Corporation. “There is no other building in the immediate area to offer such a robust lifestyle experience.”
Additional amenities include a business/conference center with a private conference room and high-speed WiFi throughout the building. Residents will also enjoy a 24/7 mail/package system provided by Luxer One, which will be used by delivery services to send text or email notifications of package deliveries. The building will also have a separate space for oversized deliveries, as well as a commercial grade refrigerator and freezer for perishable items.
“We wanted to simplify the package management process as we realize people are having everything from fresh produce to large furnishings and recreational equipment delivered to their homes,” said Pittro. “By creating dedicated space to manage those items, residents can have more peace of mind.”
The Residences at Addison & Clark also offers built-in amenities in the form of experiential retail options at street level. Confirmed tenants include a 32,000-square foot, 10-screen CMX Cinemas luxury movie theater; a 30,000-square-foot Lucky Strike Social entertainment venue; and Shake Shack, Inc., which will occupy 3,500 square feet. Additionally, one of three Chicago-area Harley-Davidson stores owned by Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Fox Motors, Chicago Harley-Davidson, will occupy 10,000 square feet of retail space. Baseballism, a premium apparel store focusing on the class, tradition and history of baseball, will occupy 1,200 square feet of space.
While the location – just west of the CTA’s Addison Red Line stop and steps from several major bus routes – offers convenient access to public transportation, The Residences at Addison & Clark will include a resident-only garage with 64 indoor parking spaces and private elevators leading to the residential floors. A public parking garage, accessible off of Clark Street, will feature 341 parking spaces to ease congestion in the area.
